Vascular Treatments

You can make unsightly facial and leg veins a thing of the past, thanks to laser vein therapy. With advanced technology, a unique design, and a longer wavelength, Cosmetic Solutions’ Cutera xeo® and Cutera HR can safely and effectively treat both tiny superficial face veins and deeper blue leg veins on men and women of most skin tones.

What is laser vein therapy?

Laser technology offers a very effective means of treating spider veins. The laser has a unique ability to selectively target blood vessels without adversely affecting surrounding tissue. The vessels are gently heated, causing the blood in the vessels to clot.

Will laser therapy work on my veins?

The laser can treat spider veins, reticular veins (deeper blue veins) and facial veins.

What does it feel like?

Although many patients report little or no discomfort, some may experience a mild stinging sensation only when the laser pulse is delivered. The cold tip on the hand piece and topical ice helps soothe the skin before and after the laser energy is delivered.

How long will the treatment take?

Treatment time should be 15 to 60 minutes and will vary depending on the number and size of the vessels to be treated.

How many treatments will I need?

Depending upon the number, color and size of the veins being treated, you may require between one and three laser treatments, spaced two to three months apart. The treatment is performed on the existing blood vessels, diminishing or completely eliminating their appearance. However, any new developing veins cannot be prevented.

What happens to the skin after the treatment?

Clients may experience some temporary redness, swelling or bruising. Others may experience changes in skin color, but these will disappear and return to normal over time.

We encourage you to wear compression hose during the day for up to three days following treatment. You will be given information on where to purchase these prior to your treatment.

When can I resume normal activities?

We ask that you refrain from vigorous activities and exercise for at least 24 hours after the treatment. Avoid hot tubs and hot baths for at least two to three weeks after treatment.

Avoid direct sun exposure after treatment, but if it is necessary to be in the sun, protect the treated area with a minimum SPF 30 sun block (not sunscreen).

If treating facial veins, avoid any irritants to your skin for one week before and after treatment (products containing Retin-A, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic/salicylic acids or astringents).

Is treatment permanent?

Sometimes. Improvements are usually long lasting but, depending on the patient’s condition, maintenance treatments may be needed from time to time. New vascular lesions can also grow.

What about blood blisters and cherry angiomas?

Blood blisters or “hemangiomas” and cherry angiomas respond very well to xeo® laser vein therapy, usually with just one treatment. Patients with other vascular lesions who had given up on finding a solution have seen success with their xeo® vascular treatments. Schedule a consultation for a thorough evaluation.
