Benign Pigment Removal

Benign Pigment Removal

Cosmetic Solutions lasers can treat benign pigmented lesions on patients with all skin types. We can treat with diffuse pigment, sun damage, and promote overall skin rejuvenation. There have been reports of pore reduction, texture improvement, pigment improvement and skin lightening. The laser breaks up the melanin in the area to be treated and these broken up particles are reabsorbed by the body through the lymphatic system.

How many treatments are needed?

The total number of treatments required varies based on the intensity of the pigmentation, color, body location and efficiency of each individual’s lymphatic system. Most will need up to 3 treatments.

Typically, treatments can be done at intervals of 4 – 6 weeks if necessary.

What can I expect after treatment?

Pigmented lesions will turn darker or red within 24-48 hours. Bruising, redness, and swelling are common and resolve with time. Avoid direct sun exposure for 2-4 weeks and avoid hot tubs, saunas, etc. for 1-2 days. Avoid skin irritants for a few days post treatment. Avoid picking at blisters, scabs or crusting as scarring may occur.
